About

Daniel Pereira

As you may already know “Daniel Pereira is an E-Marketeer, Web Developer, Blogger and Web Artist, taking a Degree in Marketing, Advertising and Public Relationships and specializing in CRM and SEO”.

But it’s not always been like that.

About Daniel Pereira:

I was born in Venezuela, and started reading newspapers with 3 years old. When I was 9 years old, I was brought to Portugal, as my parents came back to their native country, and I still live in Portugal (it’s a nice and peaceful country, but it’s just a shame that it has a government that takes more for them than for the country itself). I begun having a taste for computers and art pretty soon, and because of that I have a strong background in studying art and design theory. At the age of 16, I left school and started working in a computer store. So, I’ve been a Computer Power User and worked in the IT Support Area for more than ten years, but sincerely, I got tired of solving computer problems on a daily basis for more than 8 hours per day. I decided to return studying and pursue my dreams, as everyone should do, and that’s what I’m doing. In November 8th 2008, I had an accident where I broke almost anything on my left knee and as a result I now have two reconstructed knees and a paralyzed foot. Later, I quit my day job and started working as a web entrepreneur with a friend of mine, with a construction tools online store (and no, I’m not going to give you a link to a landing page with an eBook to download and lots of promises to make you rich). I’m still traveling this journey and I would love if you would like to do this life trip with me. Do I like to practice sports? Of course I do! I used to play Professional Handball and practice Karate, mainly Goju-Ryu and Shotokan, everything in the Portuguese Federation. I also exercise a lot in my own Home Gym. Last but not least, I love mountain biking, as it is one of the things that I can still do pretty well, in spite of my knee problems and foot palsy.

About TwistedStudio:

I remember when DeviantArt and almost any successful niche space was a cute looking “portal” with hundreds of users (not thousands) and lots of page refreshes, instead of Ajax interactivity. You could lose lots of time trying to search for something on Altavista, Yahoo or Excite and the first time Google appeared, although it was like a miracle to see at the results page, it looked like crap. I remember when DHTML was found as something awesome, kind of the future of good HTML implementation and with the conjunction of some JavaScript use, your page could almost be mistaken for a flash webpage. Video Streaming was something unimaginable, and MP3 was from the future, as every music lover was still carrying around his newly bought walkman. Social web was an absurd thing to think, because internet implied that you stayed at home. All of this was made in a sluggish speed and the phone bills were astronomic. But time changes everything.

TwistedStudio started in 2002 as my personal portfolio for some professional works I’ve done and some of my artworks and photos. Since then, I have won some awards and recognition in award giving websites and CSS Galleries and I was even invited to the Singapore International Designers Network (IDN) Conference. But, as the day only has 24 Hours, and with the lack of time due to my daily job and the fact that I resumed my studies made me close TwistedStudio for around three years. But time changes, new opportunities come and after 3 months of hard work, the website is up and running again. I hope you enjoy it!
